Good morning, friends! It is very cold out here in the Midwest. Today's high temp will be 23 degrees F and currently (6am) it is 20. Our ugly low tonight is projected to be 8. Yes, ma'am, that's pretty darn cold.

| Weather Captured as Leaving with Gracie for our Walk (Check out the Feels Like! Brrrr!) |
My family loves board games. Fred & I used to play board games just the two of us a long time ago. Scrabble was a good one. We also played card games: Rummy & Crazy 8s in particular. A good dice game is Kismet which is a Yahtzee-type on steroids. The Cribbage board was also a good one.
As we added members to our table, Scrunch, Pinochle, and Hearts were favorites. As our family gatherings grew, we added Parchesi to the mix. That was always a good time with players moving in & out. One year we even had 3 four-man teams competing in a Christmas tournament! Such great memories! A very big "Like".
This past Monday was our Christmas party at Quilt Club. Those of us that participated in the mystery quilt brought our tops to share. What a show!
These were all that had room to hang. Then there were many more shared at share 'n' tell.

| Here's Me with Mine |
Diann at Little Penguin Quilts reminded me HERE that Christmas decorating can start small. It could even include a Christmas coffee mug, so I brought one of mine out this morning. My coffee tastes so much better in the holiday spirit and that includes with a piece of Carole's Pumpkin Orange Bread! Carole shares a lot of her recipes and this one is definitely a keeper. You can find it HERE and she even included a PDF for easy download!
And that, my friends, is the end of another I Like Thursday post. Visit LeeAnna at her Not Afraid of Color blog HERE to see what others have shared. There's plenty to like there!

I love Yahtzee - will have to check out Kizmet! Fun to see all those guild mystery quilts- each so different. Love your Santa mug! They are my favorite "first" decoration to get out every December. Stay warm! It was 6 degrees here this morning!
ReplyDeleteOur cold snap is finally over. Work up to 53 degrees this morning! Downright balmy! Lol!
DeleteWOW! Look at all those gorgeous quilts! Well done, ladies! I grew up with board games too, mostly Ludo, Yatzy and card games. Your pumpkin orange bread looks yummy. Cute Christmas mug too. I'm mostly done decorating, some Santas are still in the box and we may buy a new tree. BRRRR! That's cold! A couple of days ago we had +32C (89.6F) with high humidity. Fortunately, rain has cooled it down a bit. Enjoy the Advent Season.
ReplyDeleteIt was an amazing sight to see the variety of colors on the mystery quilts. Good news -- the quilt store is going to run another one for 2026!!! I'm so excited and can't wait for the details at the January Quilt Club meeting.
DeleteYour family has enjoyed a wide variety of games during the holidays. How fun and wonderful. We like to play games too. I just bought the grandsons' "Grinch Operation" . Wow on the beautiful quilts at the gathering! Enjoy your weekend. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI just bought Spiderman Chutes & Ladders for the grandsons! hahahaha
DeleteSo many interesting versions of the mystery quilt! I had to look closely at some of them to see that they were the same pattern. We tend to do puzzles when it’s just the two of us and play board games when our daughter is home. Take care. Gail at the cozy quilter.
ReplyDeleteI love jigsaw puzzles too. Mom is too addled to help much anymore and hubby would rather play games on his laptop. Boooo! Lol
DeleteOh! So many beautiful quilts!
ReplyDeleteIt was truly a sight to behold!
DeleteI am so glad you told me about all the games and showed your quilt show with friends
ReplyDeleteLove, LeeAnna
The variety of colors used in the mystery quilts was so amazing to see and I only shared some. There were so many more beauties that i didn't capture. The quilt shop is going to do another mystery quilt. I'm looking forward to the details at the January Quilt Club!
