Progress & #41

My hand piecing saga continues and, I'm happy to say, Kyoto is coming right along. Clue #7 is all about making the center star.
Two more points to go for this and then come the Clue #6 parts from this post to get sewn in between the points. I hope the #6s are as easy to sew in place as these points have been!

Last week I managed to get the quilting done on this patriotic wall hanging. I'm happy with how cute it turned out and will be happy to show this one off at UFO Group on the 10th.
The pattern is "Liberty" by Kathy Schmitz and most of the fabrics are by Primitive Gatherings. It might be their Patriotic Gatherings line? Anyway I love the red rockets and the navy sheep!

Today I want to wish my husband a VERY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Today marks 41 years of our  marital bliss! It's a wonder that we've put up with each other all this time considering all we've been through. But we've done it together and that's the cement on our marriage. Think we've got another 41 years in us??? Lol! I love you and am looking forward to our dinner out tonight!

I'm still on the trail with Gracie each morning but haven't been going as far as before. We're closer to two miles or just under. The hip is better but not 100% .... yet! I'm feeling confident though! This morning we went 2.03 miles and it was a beautiful, crisp morning. The sky was so blue and the sun was shining so brightly. Really put a spotlight on my favorite tree on the trail!

Have a great week!

Been Travelin' & Still Got a Few Things Done!

My hubby & I have returned from our trip to Colorado to give his sister a hand with a few things. On the way out I finished my pair of socks for Camp Loopy - August. The pattern is called Tea & Scandal by Very Busy Monkey. You can catch my project page on Ravelry here.

The yarn is superwash merino, cashmere, and silk. It's going to be a wonderful pair of socks to wear this winter!

Lori at Humble Quilts is looking for photos from her "stringers" so here's mine. Take a look at what Lori and others have been sewing with strings here.
I see I posted this block on August 10 so I obviously had a good jump on it this month. It's for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and our color for August was light/bright blues. The pattern is Bonnie Hunter's  freebie called String-X. I really think this is going to be a pretty quilt when all is said and done.

Speaking of Bonnie Hunter, on the return trip I sewed down the binding to her Leaders & Enders quilt from 2014. She called hers Lozenges, I call mine "I Spy". Just needs the label. You can find this free pattern here.

If you look closely, you can see that the main part of my quilt is quilted with orange peels. I just love quilting that pattern. The back of the quilt is Jungle Book fabric. LOVE!!!!

I think that's enough for today. Enjoy this evening going into Labor Day weekend!

Movin' It Forward Monday

I'm participating in a UFO Challenge at my LQS. It is being run in the typical manner where we've located UnFinished Objects (quilts) that we would really, really like to finish. Then the store picks a number and we have two months to finish up the project associated with that number and bring it to show & share. We have our next meeting on the 24th of this month so it's time to get moving on it! After all, the quilt show is all over except the clean-up. (As Publicity Chair, I have to collect all the yard signs and car magnets; then clean them up and return them to the storage unit. It will all be over soon!)

Here's a picture of the progress I had made up to this past week. When the UFO was selected, all I had done was the embroidery.
Very early this morning, I was at this point.
Time to get the quilting bug! I'll try to get this finished up and ready to hang this week.

Linking up with Em at Movin' It Forward Monday.
