May RSC is PINK!

In case you couldn't tell by my new header picture and overall color of my blog, May's Rainbow Scrap Challenge is pink. I only just learned the new color when I read Angela's post yesterday and knew I'd better get my blog updated. How do you like those peonies? Gracie and I found them on our walk this morning. 

I apologize for getting so far behind but my sister came up from Texas for a visit. So busy and so much fun! While she was here, she took care of Mom & Polly (Gracie was kenneled) so hubby & I could take off for a 5-day Cousins Reunion which was held at a lodge at Lake Guntersville State Park, Alabama. It was a peaceful, beautiful location. Look at the view from our patio!

After returning home, my sister was able to spend a few more days with us before driving south again. Of those last days, she and I managed to escape to a LQS to spend two days sewing, chatting, laughing, and catching up on anything and everything. Each late afternoon, we returned home to fix dinner and share company with Mom & Fred.

So now that you're all caught up with the social part of my current life, let's see what I've manage to sew. One thing I can tell you is that I sewed up another gift that needs to be shipped out. Until then, there's no picture and you'll just have to take my word for it. Ha! Red Threads embroidery blocks have progressed though.

Plus two more blocks were completed for the Lori Holt "Vintage Christmas" SAL at my local quilt shop.

While I got another week behind on the Twilight Stars QAL, I did manage to knock out a non-current week. Two more stars to add to the growing pile.

And there was also progress made on my EPP project.

I'm sure this will come as no surprise but .... I started another project. It was a SAL with Gundrun Erla. The pattern is Strips & Nachos. I believe I mentioned it in an earlier post but now sewing has begun.

While Linda was here, we started a jigsaw puzzle together. It's 1000 pieces and has been proving quite challenging.

Mom & I enjoyed the Kentucky Derby yesterday. What a wonderful photo-finish to commemorate the 150th Kentucky Derby! Thank you for our hats goes to our used-to-be neighbor Karla and thank you goes to my BFF Vickie for visiting Churchill Downs and gifting me official cups for our mint juleps!

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend. I think today we'll be loving no rain here for a change. Maybe I'll get those daffodil bulbs I swiped from Mom's house planted in my own yard today ... before the next expected rain!

End of RSC Red and a Good FNwF

Just noticed it's been longer than I thought since I've posted. Time sure flies when you're busy, doesn't it? Wish I could say it's because I was so absorbed in sewing but I can't complain. Some of my time has been with various quilt clubs so that's good.

Earlier this week I remembered all about the pineapple quilt I've been working on. I started it last year with RSC and was half finished by the end of 2023. I quickly whipped out my red bin and got to work. Actually finished in them on the 29th -- Yay! for Leap Year! These were, in fact, finished in February. (I just saw that March's color is PURPLE!)

Last night was Friday Night with Friends. Earlier in the day at various appointments with Mom, I got a good start on one of the embroideries for Red Thread. These are so nice and portable, just what I need.

After dinner I settled in behind the cutting table and sewing machine and got a good start on February's first of 2 blocks for the Vintage Christmas SAL at my LQS. I'm making the 12" blocks and will need 25 to make a large quilt so 2 per month with an extra thrown in somewhere ought to do it. I've decided not to use Lori Holt fabric. I'm pretty sure I've got enough scraps to get this done. *wink*

February is underway and Angela chose red for this month. Do you know what Paczkis are? They are sweet, deliciously-filled Polish doughnuts that are only available in my neck of the woods for about 2 weeks before Ash Wednesday. Mom & I stopped at the grocery store yesterday after her hair appointment on the off chance that Paczkis might be starting to show up. Yay!!! We found some!

Recently I  decided to join a Lori Holt Vintage Christmas SAL -- can you believe I'm joining in with yet another SAL??? Haha! Of course one Christmas color is red and I dug through my scraps for suitable scraps for this project. Two blocks were chosen for those wanting to participate with 12" blocks which is what I've decided to work on. Last night all I managed to do was cut out one block but I plan on getting both sewn up this weekend. They're due at the 10am monthly meeting on Monday. No point getting it finished up too early, right?

I was also waiting to see about joining in with the Friday Night with Friends group. I guess our hostess forgot or was busy. I have to say 1st Friday was pretty early this month so it very easily could have slipped her mind. I did work a little on a Red Threads embroidery block. Progress is progress, right?
