It's been a while (again) since my last post. Many things have gone in that have kept me away from the blog. My fingers have remained pretty busy though.
As April ended, Angela announced that May's Rainbow Scrap color would be orange. I quickly dug out my orange scraps, my English paper pieces, and my EPP caddy. I knew it would be just the thing to take on our upcoming trip to Wilmington NC. The last of my brother's kids was getting married on May 2.
So, working in the car along the way, working more in the hotel in between wedding events, and then working along the way home from my brother's house in Lexington NC, I cut, glued, and stitched. I ended up getting almost all of the Grandmother's Jewels completed by the time we got home and then I did finish them up.

One week later .... Now where was I? Ah, Grandmother's Orange Jewels!

When we got home, I managed to have a UFO finished just in time for the monthly TAS (The Applique Society) meeting. Meet Daphne, a table runner made in a class by Katrina Hadjimichael from Austrailia!
I think that pretty much catches us up on where I've been, things I've sewn, and happy to be home again. Our trip was full of memories to last a life-time!

You had a fun time with family, so it's understandable you didn't have time to blog. Love those EPP gems!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, family occasions come first, right? I'm happy to see the progress with my jewel EPPs. Now just waiting to see what color June will bring! Have a great week!
DeleteWow! Way to make beatiful family memories. Smiles all around!
ReplyDeleteOh, we had so much fun. Now back to reality! Lol! Hope you have a great week!
DeleteLooks like you had a wonderful trip, Susie! I love the photos of your twin nieces together, and especially the one with the baby, too. Beautiful in their green and white dresses! Your gems blocks look like the perfect take along sewing, too. They're pretty in every color!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've got quite a collection of jewels and am now awaiting June's color announcement. This will probably end up being a multi-year project as I always GO BIG! Haha! The trip was wonderful and I'm so glad a couple of cousins made it in for the wedding .... and to see their Aunt Dot (Mom). Have a wonderful week!
DeleteWhat a whirlwind you have had! The wedding looks lovely. So nice to be able to visit with family and friends. So happy that you had time to add some orange blocks to your collection.
ReplyDeleteOur wedding was beautiful as was yours and I loved seeing so much family together. I'm sure you enjoyed strengthening family ties as much as we did. There's always time for our hobby, right? Have a fabulous week! I'll be waiting to see what color June brings!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Jenny! I just love my front garden every Spring. Those orange lilies with the dark purple clematis just make my heart sing!
DeleteSo glad you enjoyed your time in North Carolina! Sorry we did manage to get together on this trip. Maybe next time!
ReplyDeleteI know! We weren't really in the area much this time and, when we were, it was a whirlwind of activity. Exhausting but very fun. Now it's time to get on with reality. Lol! Have a good week!
DeleteSo fun to have all that time with your extended family! Your jewel collection is growing. I like when there are fussy cut pieces to find in a finished quilt. Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gail. Lots of family memories made. Time to get back to reality again. Haha! I'll be waiting patiently to see what June's RSC color will be next. Have a wonderful week!
